Resins market is closely related to consumer goods and packaging industry and also in automobile, electrical and electronics. Polyethylene terephthalate is predominantly used for packaging of bottled drinking water, carbonated soft drinks, edible oils, juices, alcoholic beverages, etc, while polybutylene terephthalate is majorly used in electrical and electronics industry. Resins are increasingly replacing traditional materials like aluminium, metal, paper and glass.
The industry is dominated by Reliance Industries, Dupont, BASF etc., The industry is expected to reach USD 2.0 billion by 2020.
