Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd was promoted by The Andhra Sugars Limited (ASL) and started its operations in the year 1994. It is currently the sole producer of oxo-alcohols in India with a capacity to manufacture 3,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of oxo-alcohols.
The product mix includes 2 ethyl hexanol (2EH), n-butanol (NB) and iso-butanol (IB). APL’s oxo-alcohol manufacturing capacity currently caters to about 35-40% of the Indian market, with imports accounting for the rest. Oxo-alcohols are primarily used as one of the raw materials for manufacturing PVC plasticisers.
