About the Company :

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, a Maharatna PSU, was incorporated on June 30 1959 as Indian Oil Co Ltd. The name of the company was changed to Indian Oil Corporation Limited on September 1, 1964 upon merger of Indian Refineries Limited with the Company. GoI held 68.57% stake in IOCL as on March 31, 2015. IOCL along with its subsidiaries including Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CPCL) own and operate 10 refineries in India and cross-country network of crude oil, product and gas pipelines. It’s refining capacity is 65.7 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) and had 11,000+ km pipeline for crude oil, products and natural gas. IOCL is co-promoter in Petronet LNG Ltd. (PLL) and has marketing rights for 30% of the LNG procured by PLL for its Dahej Terminal & Kochi Terminal. The company’s portfolio of brands includes Indane LPG, SERVO lubricants, Xtra Premium petrol, XTRAMILE diesel and Propel Petrochemicals. IOCL is the India’s largest commercial enterprise in terms of revenues.

In August 2017, the company’s board has given its approval for expansion of its Gujarat refinery from the existing 13.7 million tpa to 18 million tpa. The project will entail an investment of Rs 15,034 crore. The project involves replacing decades-old units which are old in design and small in capacity and no longer energy-efficient. The company also plans to invest Rs. 52000 crores in Paradip refinery to set up a petrochemical complex along with polypropylene plant and a monoethylene glycol production facility

In July 2018, the company is planning to invest Rs. 120000 million to set up a LPG pipeline to connect Haldia-Durgapur which in turn will connect Paradip-Haldia-Muzzafarpur pipeline.
