Varalakshmi Starch Industries Pvt Ltd is a starch manufacturer based out of Salem in Tamil Nadu. Established in 1995 by Mr. V. Anbalagan, a first generation entrepreneur, VSIPL manufactures starch from tapioca from its factory located in Dharmapuri district near Salem (Tamil Nadu). The company has a production capacity of 250 MT of native starch per day of which ~150 Mt are converted into modified starch.
The company is in the process of adding a maize starch plant with a capacity of ~230 MT per day and processing facility to convert tapioca starch to sago with a capacity of 50-70 MT per day The promoter has extensive experience of ~30 years in the starch industry and has been actively involved in day to day operations of the company. The promoter also has a major interest in a partnership firm “SVS Classic Foods”, a sago trading firm with several well known brands in the market. Going forward, Sago produced by VSIPL is expected to be marketed by SVS Classic Foods.
