Symega was established in 2007 as a 63:37 joint venture between Synthite Industries Limited (SIL) and Omega Flavour Technology Limited to manufacture savoury ingredients such as seasonings, mixed condiments, spice blends, savoury flavours, compound flavours, functional ingredients, top notes either as powder or liquid blends for a range of products such as snack foods, processed cheese, instant dishes, convenience food, mayonnaise, ketchup, processed meat , fish products and other sauces. Later in November 2012, SIL acquired 100% stake in Omega Flavour Technology Limited, as a result of which Symega became a 100% subsidiary of SIL indirectly.

SIL, the holding company of Symega, was established during 1972 by Mr CV Jacob as Synthite Industrial Chemicals Limited. It was renamed as SIL in September 2008. SIL is engaged in the manufacturing of spice oleoresins from spices such as chilli, pepper, turmeric, cardamom among others. SIL offers more than 500 products which includes spice oleoresins, essential oils, lutein and marigold extracts (finds application as colouring agent and in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and pet food industry), green spice extracts, herbal extracts, tea & coffee extracts among other products, which find application in various industries including health and nutrition, food and beverages, personal care, agriculture and livestock.
