Lubrizol India Pvt Ltd was formed in 1966 as a 60:40 joint venture between the Government of India and Lubrizol Corp. On March 31, 2000, LIPL was restructured with 50% of the shares held by Lubrizol Corp and the balance by IOCL. On March 15, 2017, the government approved the sale of IOCL’s 24% stake to Lubrizol Corp. Subsequently, on April 26, 2017, Lubrizol Corp completed the transaction and now holds 74% stake in the joint venture. LIPL manufactures and markets additive systems for automotive and industrial lubricants and for the treatment of fuels. The company provides advanced chemical formulations designed to meet specific needs of customers in the automotive and industrial markets.
