Hubergroup India Pvt Ltd was originally promoted by the Bilakhia Group. HIPL became a part of the Germany-based Huber Group when MHM Holding GmbH (MHM; holding company of the Huber group) acquired 70% stake in HIPL in October 2005. Subsequently, MHM increased its stake in HIPL and as on December 31, 2015, MHM held 99.28% shares in HIPL. The name of the company also underwent changes from Hindustan Inks & Resins Limited to Micro Inks Limited to Micro Inks Private Limited and subsequently to the present one. Hubergroup, based at Germany, is the sixth largest ink manufacturer in the world and has 250 years of operational track record in manufacturing printing ink.
HIPL is the largest manufacturer of printing inks in India and also manufactures majority of ink intermediates like adhesives, resins, pigments & flushes. HIPL’s manufacturing units are located in Vapi, Daman and Silvassa. As on December 31, 2015, HIPL had an installed capacity of 203,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) for printing inks, 67,600 MTPA for resins & varnishes, and 46,500 MTPA for pigments & flush colours. As HIPL has in-house manufacturing facility for majority of ink intermediates, its cost of production for printing ink is amongst the lowest in the world.
