Indian Oil Corp to set up hydrogen plant in Mathura

Indian Oil Corp has set up a hydrogen plant – the first of its kind in India at its Mathura plant in Uttar Pradesh. There are more than 3 ways of producing hydrogen in plant- Brown hydrogen -which is created through coal gasification , Grey hydrogen – throws off carbon waste, Blue hydrogen uses carbon capture and storage for the greenhouse gases produced in the creation of grey hydrogen.

The company is also adopting this technology as its refinery is near the Taj Trapezium zone. It is also planning to set up several pilot hydrogen plants in other refinery like Bharuch in Gujarat for hydrogen fuel cell bus.
