Numaligarh Refinery Ltd has launched its premium quality food grade wax which can be used in food packaging, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Currently, India imports food grade wax and domestic production will meet some of the demand and reduce the supply gap. The company will now cater to cosmetic, pharmaceutical food packaging and FMCG industries in domestic as well as foreign markets.
The company started its wax production in 2015 and it is the largest producer of paraffin wax in the country producing around 50,000 tonnes of fully refined paraffin wax. Now the company exports wax to 35 countries in North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
