CPCL plans greenfield refinery in Nagapattinam

Chennai Petroleum Corp Ltd is planning to set up a greenfield refinery in Panangudi village in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. The new refinery will have a capacity of 9.0 million tpa and will have crude units (9000 tpa), naphtha hydro treater unit (1500 tpa), isomerization unit (570 tpa), reformer unit (625 tpa), diesel hydro treater unit (5000 tpa), VGO hydro treater unit (3000 tpa), octamax unit (125 tpa), polypropylene unit (475 tpa), delayed coker unit (2500 tpa), hydrogen plant (98 tpa), cracked LPG treating unit (1300 tpa) etc., The project cost is estimated at ₹ 274,600 million.

As of January 2019, the project has received the company’s board approval and in-principle clearance. A detailed feasibility report is underway and is expected to be completed by April 2019.
